    Five Day Course

    Cost: £425

    5 days of chainsaw maintenance, crosscutting and felling small and medium trees. Assessment can be arranged for LANTRA CS30/31. Group bookings for up to 4 candidates at a special discounted rate, please contact me for details. For group bookings I will travel anywhere in the UK.

      Learning objectives

    1. Identify, inspect and comment on key parts of a chainsaw
    2. Prepare the chainsaw for work safely without risk to operator, other people or the environment
    3. Carry out daily and routine maintenance on the chainsaw
    4. Operate the chainsaw safely, effectively and comfortably in accordance with the practical risk assessment
    5. Operate the chainsaw safely without risk to operator, other people or the environment
    6. State the identified knowledge that underpins understanding of operating a chainsaw
    7. Identify the risk assessment and emergency procedures on a work site
    8. Select and prepare equipment required for safe and effective felling
    9. Fell small trees safely and accurately using an appropriate method
    10. Fell trees weighted in direction of fall using a safe technique
    11. Remove branches safely in a manner appropriate to the branching habit
    12. Crosscut stems accurately and safely to a given length and diameter specification
    13. Stack timber using appropriate manual handling techniques
    14. Take down small hung-up trees safely using appropriate hand tools

    I will travel anywhere in the UK to deliver courses for 4 candidates. For a course within 50 miles of North wales, I will travel free of charge. For distances above this, I charge 50p per mile.

    For a course with 4 candidates, I offer a 10% discount.

    Full equipment hire is available (everything from PPE to chainsaws and sharpening tools).
